HD vehicle horizon for automated driving based on the ADASIS standard

Map data enables cars to more accurately localize themselves, ensures a more precise environmental perception and enhances path planning. This allows to extend the sight of the vehicle beyond its sensor horizon, profoundly increasing the safety of the car and its passengers. Also, such information can actively assist the driver in challenging situations, such as heavy rain or snow fall. To bring the required map information to the car, ADASIS v3, an industry-leading map data standard, provides a way to supply and distribute HD map data to on-board units responsible for high-level advanced driver assistance systems as well as automated and autonomous driving functions. This presentation goes into detail, from R&D purposes to series production usage, about what the key steps are to implement an ADASIS v3 horizon and to provision an ADASIS v2 map data source for legacy applications.
