Large-format SPAD-based LiDAR imaging for automotive safety

About this Session
Recent progress in large-format SPAD cameras has received great attention from communities interested in LiDAR at high frame rates for automotive, industrial, and consumer applications. In order to detect obstacles at distances that still enable a corrective action, one needs to achieve high timing precision, enough sensitivity, especially in the near infrared spectrum, and high processing speed, all of it at a reasonable power.

In this talk, I present the latest in SPAD cameras, including the first megapixel format in this technology. We will describe the challenges of building such device and of capturing 3D images at high speed, as well as the applicability of this technology to automotive safety. I will conclude the talk with a perspective on SPAD-based LiDAR in automotive and consumer spaces, with a keen interest in speed and data interpretation.
