Connected and Autonomous Vehicles; should they drive on the Edge or simply enter the Fog?
During this panel discussion, we will share views about the current state of play on Edge computing in the Automotive sector: Is there any Reference Architecture Model? Are there any pilots and testbeds? How ready is the field in terms of standardisation and industrial products and services? Secondly we’ll discuss the potential role and the business opportunity of each counterpart: In light of Edge Computing paradigm, what might be expected by the cellular operators, the cloud providers, the road infrastructures and operators? Might Edge Computing be considered either as part of the cloud or the telecom infrastructure? Is there any room for a new type of computing services, complementary to the cloud, focusing on serving automated and connected vehicles? How will the industry and the third-party service providers of the automotive sector gain from this new Foggy opportunity?
