System and Laser Considerations Towards a Long-Range LIDAR Module for Automotive Applications

Long range LIDAR modules are frequently seen as an indispensable component for advanced driver assistance functions and autonomous driving. Based on the pulsed time-of-flight approach, we will talk about possible choices of system architectures, laser types and emission wavelengths and show resulting boundary conditions for the optical path, especially with regard to beam steering, eye safety and detector architecture.
