The software-defined vehicle goes hand in hand with a centralized vehicle and electric/electronic (E/E) architecture. Today, numerous electronic control units (ECU) will generally control different functions in the vehicle, but soon only a few central vehicle computers will unite multiple system functions from previously separate domains. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to have new computers with a powerful processor, known as a system on chip (SoC). These powerful SoCs can enable fusion of different domains to a single ECU/single SoC. This presentation will review the latest innovations and technology related to centralized vehicle architecture and what benefits it will bring for both OEMs and consumers
