The role of in-cabin monitoring systems is ever-increasing as technology evolves. The industry is seeking to take advantage of advanced ICMS to encourage safe driving and reduce the impact of crashes. Indeed, many features that we, ICMS makers, have planned to improve ‘entertainment’ are now expected to be employed to improve the safety of passengers and drivers. For instance, face recognition can enable personalized drowsiness measurement, and monitoring your body posture can help airbags and seatbelts minimize your chance of injury. The implication of the changes is the need for elevated robustness. Aside from the robustness of algorithms, the talk will discuss the robustness of the software against malicious attacks. As much as passengers’ and driver’s safety is important, so is our privacy. DEEP IN SIGHT recaps the importance of privacy, reviews the expected attack surface of future ICMS, and considers relevant security measures we could take.
