Next-generation ADAS and Autonomous Driving solutions demand ever more performance from the sensors that feed them data as the “eyes” of the system. Correspondingly, with new requirements for monitoring drivers in efforts to reduce human caused crashes OEMs are focused on including in-cabin monitoring and convenience features to their vehicles. This presentation provides an overview of the challenges and requirements for state-ofthe-art sensors across specific applications: e-mirror and camera monitoring systems (CMS), driver and occupant monitoring systems (DMS), automated parking (viewing and sensing solutions) and scalable machine vision for ADAS up to fully autonomous driving solutions. It will highlight sensor performance metrics such as high dynamic range, LED flicker mitigation and depth accuracy as well as sensor features that help designers optimize these systems for total system cost and even challenges of vehicle integration
