Jungyong Lee from LG Electronics presents a framework for advanced in-cabin monitoring using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This modular architecture integrates data from cameras, microphones, inertial sensors, and vehicle control signals with large language models (LLMs) to interpret in-cabin activities and occupant states in real time. The system is designed to address safety and health scenarios, such as detecting abnormal posture, respiration irregularities, or driver impairment through voice and facial cues. MCP unifies data from multiple sensors to enable context-aware reasoning and timely interventions, including alerts or guidance. Tests in simulated and semi-realistic driving environments indicate improved responsiveness and adaptability, even under challenging conditions. The research explores how combining multimodal sensing with AI can enhance situational awareness and support occupant well-being in modern vehicles.
