ADAS systems require accurate and reliable absolute positioning to enable use cases such as geogating, map matching, lane identification, and enhanced navigation. Hexagon has developed a precise GNSS/INS system and correction service that can be certified to ISO-26262 and are currently working on integrating this system into mass market deployment of passenger vehicles. The presentation will include a summary of the system architecture, highlighting the differences from commercial systems needed to achieve the higher accuracy and functional safety required in ADAS. We will discuss external faults that can affect a GNSS system and show how these faults can be mitigated and analyzed to ensure that the safety goals of the system are met. We will show how injection of synthetic faults can be used to verify the system achieves strict integrity targets, and show results from fault injection in both the service and the in-vehicle components.
