Driver monitoring systems, and specifically vision-based monitoring, is mandated by various regulatory requirements and safety standards around the globe. While not common on the road yet, these systems already reached serial production, with specific standards and practices for data collection and validation. In parallel to the proliferation of driver monitoring systems, we also witness budding interest in occupancy monitoring systems, which are considered as a natural extension for the computer vision AI technology which underlies driver monitoring. However, occupancy monitoring literally opens up the field of view, as well as the breadth of scenarios, subjects, variety of conditions and challenges.
