Achieving a higher level of safety in autonomous driving requires massive investment in advanced sensing capabilities and system solutions. HDR image sensors are at the heart of automotive cameras and are undergoing transformation to better handle numerous corner cases. This presentation will focus on some of the greatest challenges to safety within image sensing, including LED flickering, VRU detection, object avoidance and motion blur, as well as examining the way pixel architectures may impact distance detection capabilities of a stereo camera.
