With lofty targets set by companies racing for high-level autonomous driving, realistic expectations and timelines for deployment are important when considering limitations brought on by adverse weather. This presentation will examine the efficacy of autonomous sensor and perception systems in adverse weather conditions, with special attention to snow and winter weather. The talk will cover the adverse weather on camera and LiDAR sensors, the performance of object detection in snow, and the need for data in these conditions.
