Automated driving is a goal that multiple OEMs want to achieve. Some of them, like Honda and Mercedes have already released cars with eyes-off functionalities. First eyes-off functionalities are enabling highway driving up to 60km/h under certain conditions. This is the first step, and many other applications can be targeted like highway driving up to 130 km/h, highway with on/off ramp, arterial driving, among others. Each of these applications are linked to generation of sensors and computing hardware. For example, a car having a sensor set for highway driving up to 60 km/h may not be able to reach the next step at 130 km/h and more performant sensors and computing will be needed to enable this level. The number of sensors and their positions on car is also evolving according to the use cases targeted by the OEMs.
This presentation will give the context of automated driving and which steps are expected to reach that goal. The presentation will focus on market forecasts for camera, radar, and LiDAR but also on the computing associated. We will showcase forecasts in volume and revenue but also market shares of players for each category.
