There has been tremendous progress in passenger car technology, from L1-L3 ADAS and automated driving systems to L4 robotaxis that are starting to deploy more broadly on city streets. This advancement has been fueled by advancements in sensing, processing, and algorithms that enable these cars to improve driver safety or accomplish its mission autonomously. Trucking has followed this same path and looks to be the first industry where autonomy will be scalable and commercially successful, impacting freight transport as we know it.
This talk will introduce the freight market and operations, trucking use cases, and dive deeper into autonomous trucking. It will cover highway and hub ODDs and highlight what is different about the truck’s autonomy stack and safety approaches that Torc sees as required to drive the future of freight.
