This presentation introduces a collimator-based system for intrinsic calibration and triangulation verification of monocular automotive cameras. During calibration, a 30° collimator projects virtual targets positioned at optical infinity. For verification, a novel multi-collimator array is employed to establish an absolute angular reference. With all optical axes intersecting precisely at the camera’s entrance pupil, depth measurement accuracy can be evaluated from a single image. Calibration and verification are performed under multiple poses to cover as much of the field of view as possible, with the entire process completed within 25 seconds. The relative depth error is less than 0.15% for pinhole camera modules and below 0.3% for fisheye modules. This optics-based approach offers an accurate, compact, and efficient alternative to conventional field-based systems.
