Alexis Lluis Gomez
Alexis has experience in multiple disciplines in the emerging field of image processing, from academia to commercial R&D, with a proven history of working in the semiconductor industry. Currently he is Technical Director – Imaging at Arm, responsible for the image signal processor (ISP) architecture and the Imaging technology research team. Alexis joined Arm in May 2016 after spending the previous 6 years with Apical, where he was responsible for Image Quality and R&D of advanced image processing models, computational algorithms and tuning for end-to-end ISP performance. Prior to joining Apical he was a researcher at Loughborough University where he studied for his PhD in Vision and Imaging Systems, and holds a BSc and MSc in computer science.

Alexis Vander Biest is Senior Manager in the automotive division of Sony Semiconductor Group. The company mission is to bring cutting-edge 2D/3D sensing technologies to the automotive world. As part of their imaging portfolio, Sony offers a comprehensive line-up of high performance and fully integrated SPAD sensors designed to unlock the full potential of today’s lidars.
In close collaboration with both customers and Sony IC design teams, Alexis’ teams help define new sensor specifications and design camera & lidar that are used to support Sony’s large base of T1/OEM customers. Technical Lead, LiDAR
Short bio (100 words max): Amit Mizrahi has held multiple industry positions in the field of photonic integrated circuits (PIC). He is currently the Technical Lead for LiDAR in the Silicon Photonics Product Division at Intel Corporation, in Santa Clara, CA. Most recently, he managed PIC R&D at Lumentum Operations LLC, Transmission Business Unit in San Jose, CA, with a focus on coherent transmitters and receivers. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Dr. Andras Palffy, MSc from Cranfield, UK, is a machine perception expert from Hungary.
He worked at a computer vision startup acquired by Verizon before pursuing a PhD at TU Delft, specialising in Radar-Based perception for Intelligent Vehicles.
During his PhD, he recognized that while radars have been used for years in the automotive industry for functions like cruise control and emergency braking, their full potential remained unexplored, and can only be achieved through dedicated radar-focused AI solutions.
That is why with two fellow scholars (Balazs Szekeres and Srimannarayana Baratam), he founded Perciv AI, a machine perception software company providing next-generation, AI-driven perception solutions for radars and sensor fusion.

After starting his career at BMW in 2007, Armin joined AVL Software & Functions in 2011 being responsible for Vehicle and Hybrid Controls Software. From 2015 to 2018, he led the ADAS / AD Controls and Software Department at AVL before joining Zenuity from 2018 to 2020. Since June 2020, Armin is back at AVL, taking over the Product Management for DGT Perception Software and managing the newly founded AVL Sensor Lab at Roding/Bavaria.

Asif Anwar is a 20 year plus veteran analyst at TechInsights and transferred over to the Global Automotive Practice team in 2019. Asish Jain is working as Solution Architect & Planner for Keysight AV Mfg. solutions at AES R&D team based in Keysight Boeblingen, Germany. His area of work involves test solution planning for 5G/Wireless telematics unit and Lidar testing.
Asish has over 14 years of experience in Aerospace & Defense, RF, µW & mmWave, Wireless and Automotive technologies. He has been working on test and measurement solutions used in these industry segments and technologies.

Vice President Automotive
Bart Placklé holds a Master of Science degree and a postgraduate degree in telecommunications from the University of Hasselt and imec. He also obtained a postgraduate degree in executive business economics from KU Leuven.
In 2004, Bart joined Intel to create the company’s in-vehicle infotainment business. As chief architect and later automotive CTO, he led the development of five generations of high-performance automotive solutions, driving Intel’s automotive segment to become a multibillion-dollar business. In 2023, Bart Placklé returned to imec, assuming the role of vice president of automotive technologies. In this capacity, he is leading the development of cutting-edge solutions that will shape the future of mobility.

Bendix De Meulemeester, a graduate of Ghent University with a master’s in electronics and photonics, serves as the Director of Marketing & Business Development at Umicore Electro-Optic Materials. With over 20 years at Umicore and past experience in the United States, Bendix leverages his expertise to steer Umicore’s innovations in photonics and clean energy. His current focus is integrating these breakthroughs into consumer and automotive markets, fortifying Umicore’s position as a technology leader.
Professor of Physics and Computer Science
Bernd Jähne is senior professor at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) and the Institute of Environmental Physics (IUP) of Heidelberg University. From 2008 to 2017 he was coordinating director of the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image processing (HCI), an industry-on-campus project of Heidelberg University and from 2008 to 2016 deputy director of the IWR. He is also founder and chair of the Heidelberg Image Processing Forum since 1995, chair of the EMVA 1288 standardization group since 2008, and vice president of the European Machine Vision Association since 2021. He is author of a several text books and handbooks on Digital Image Processing and Computer Vision published in German, English, and Russian language.
Berveleen Mashonga holds a masters in engineering from the University of Portsmouth, in England. Specialising in automotive advanced technology, Berveleen prides herself in being a STEM advocate and mentor for girls and women around the world

Chris started out 7 years ago understanding radiation and creating detectors for nuclear reactors, before transferring his passion for the physical world to understanding the digital world – primarily breaking cloud software deployments and working with the world’s most effective ethical hacking platform!
Christoph Gollob studied automotive engineering in Graz. Since 2010 he is working in the E/E environment at BMW starting in testing of chassis and ADAS ECUs and then taking part in developing the BMW platform for automated driving gaining insight into fail operational systems. Since 2021 he is in the department for networking technologies as a network architect and responsible for safe time synchronization. Another part of his work is the investigation in future high speed in vehicle network solutions, mainly driven by imaging sensors and video data in general, their demands, and the possible technologies.
Mr. Gershman is a Drexel University College of Engineering inductee into the Alumni Circle of Distinction, the highest honor bestowed upon alumni. He has been honored as a finalist for CMP publications (EE Times) prestigious ACE award as High Technology Executive of the Year and was previously named a Top 40 Healthcare Transformer by Medical Marketing & Media for his work on Clinical AI Decision Support for cancer patients. Chuck holds four US patents for his contributions to Microprocessor Architecture. Chuck brings over 30 years of technology and semiconductor industry experience in executive management, marketing, engineering, business development, sales, consulting, and executive advising. Including Owl Autonomous Imaging. Mr. Gershman has served as CEO/COO and a Board Director for three companies, he knows what it takes to lead a vision to reality – having led successful exits with acquisitions by Intel and PMC-Sierra. As President & CEO of Bay Microsystems (now Vcinity), Chuck guided the company through two high-tech recessions and from a pre-revenue start-up to a thriving profitable industry leader with over $100M in aggregate sales. In 2007 Bay was selected as a finalist as the Most Respected Private Semiconductor Company by the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), and in 2008 Bay was recognized by Deliotte for the Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 (#15) and US Fast 500 (#136) with nearly 1400% growth.
Colin Kwan, President and CEO of MEMS Drive Inc., founded the company in 2014 with a team of experts in MEMS design, wafer process and packaging. MEMS is the short form of Micro-ElectroMechanical System. MEMS Drive is the first semiconductor based 5-axis Optical Image Stablization (OIS) for smartphone.
Prior to MEMS Drive, Colin joined DigitalOptics (DOC) in 2010 as VP of China (S&M), he led the team to launch the first lens based MEMS autofocus camera module with OPPO and achieved the commercialization of state-of-the-art technology. Before DOC, Colin managed the sales division in Sigmatel China and Freescale Semiconductor with a leading position in audio/video SoC for consumer electronics space.
Senior ML Engineer
Dane Mitrev is a Senior ML Engineer at Provizio, specializing in the processing of point cloud data from RADAR and LIDAR sensors, and the application of machine learning techniques to vehicle sensor data. He is working in the intersection of Machine Learning and Computer Vision for perception & sensor fusion. With a wealth of experience in the field, he has tackled a wide range of topics including point cloud denoising, super-resolution, point cloud segmentation, scene flow, accumulation, object detection, and tracking, and point cloud registration. He is passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology to create safer and more efficient transportation systems.

Dong Chen is the General Manager at Zongmu Germany, he holds master’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA. He has extensive knowledge in developing near range sensing solutions for the L2 -L4 parking applications including sensor hardware, software, and algorithms. At the meantime he is acting as business development manager to explore business opportunities for company’s ADAS system and sensor products in the European market.

Dr. Trent Victor is Director of Safety Research and Best Practices at Waymo where he oversees safety publications, represents safety issues within Waymo, and coordinates the development of best practices within Waymo and external industry standard setting groups. Prior to Waymo, Trent was Senior Technical Leader at Volvo Cars Safety Centre, Adjunct Professor in Driver Behavior at Chalmers and University of Iowa. Trent has published extensively (>100 papers, >5900 citations). He has been awarded top awards such as Automotive News’ 2021 safety innovation executive of the year, the US Government award for Safety Engineering Excellence, Jerome H. Ely Human Factors Award, and Volvo Cars Technology & Innovation Award

Duong Van Nguyen
Dr. Duong-Van Nguyen is the Head of ADAS at Panasonic Automotive Systems Europe (PASEU) based in Germany. He is recognized as the Senior IEEE, and a member of IEEE standard P2020.
Dr. Nguyen has been a pioneer and leading scientist in the fields of ADAS, Autonomous Driving, Robotics & Machine Learning, where he has published 1 book, 9 patents and a number of journals and conference papers. His research group at Panasonic demonstrated the world-first level 4-autonomous parking at ITS World Congress 2021, and the state-of-the art of 3D Sensing and Parking in CES 2020, CES 2021, and CES 2022.
Dr. Nguyen and his PASEU team received three Research and Innovation Grants CARAMEL (2019), CPSoSAware (2020), and TRUSTEE(2022) by the European Research Council.
Before, he worked as R&D Manager at Hyundai Mobis (Germany), and as Research Engineer at Valeo (Ireland), after his Ph.D graduation in Robotics from University of Siegen (Germany, 2009-2013).
Director Technology Innovation
Eric Richter has 15 years of experience in the field of sensor fusion and a strong passion for automated driving. His roots can be found in academia, researching environmental models and sensor fusion. He later became a co-founder of BASELABS and the company’s CTO. In this role, he was responsible for developing BASELABS’ sensor fusion libraries, which allow for efficient, modular, and scalable development of sensor fusion systems for ADAS and au-tomated driving. He currently is Director of Technology Innovations at BASELABS, providing a strong market perspective and deriving new requirements and use cases for the BASELABS product portfolio concerning sensor fusion and automated driving.
Florens Greßner is co-founder and CEO of neurocat, a Berlin-based startup offering safety validation solutions for ADAS/AV perception components. A mathematician with a focus on statistics and optimization, he founded neurocat to transfer the abstract mathematics of academia to applied purposes in the field of Machine Learning testing and quality assurance.
His work has contributed to numerous industry solutions in risk assessment, robustness, and interpretability of AI systems across use-cases. Currently Florens and neurocat are again transferring knowledge: from themselves to a SaaS toolkit that ensures coverage of the ODDs, scenes, and data required to deploy safe mobility perception functions.

François-Pierre received his Electronics Engineer Diploma – from the French Grenoble Institute of Technology in 2004.
After a few years in Academics – French South African Institute of Technology in Pretoria -, and Electronics Engineering Consultancy – CSIE – , he joined the intoPIX team in 2012. Initially involved in customer supports, he gained in depth knowledge in the company’s main core business: Wavelet codecs and their latency/quality optimization. These include the Digital Cinema and Broadcast standard JPEG 2000, the internally developed TICO proprietary codec and the recently standardized JPEG XS.
Now a Product Application Specialist, François-Pierre helps intoPIX partners optimize their video network with intoPIX innovations.

Frank Schirrmeister is vice president of solutions and business development at Arteris IP. He leads activities in the automotive, enterprise & computing, communications, consumer, and industry verticals and the technology horizontals artificial intelligence, machine learning, safety, and hardware/software. Before Arteris IP, Frank held various senior leadership positions at Cadence Design Systems, Synopsys, and Imperas, focusing on product marketing and management, solutions, strategic ecosystem partner initiatives, and customer engagement.

Dr. Haowei Wang has more than 20 years of related working experience. He got his PhD. degree from University of Erlangen-Nuernberg.
Dr. Wang started his career working in software and systems architecture design for the Automotive industry, focusing on software and system architecture design.
He has led more than 20 industrial and scientific research projects.
Before joining JOYNEXT, Dr. Wang worked in many MNCs like Continental, Aptiv, IBM and Huawei. He has strong experience in automotive SW design, EE architecture, automated driving system, safety & security, positioning & communication system, sensors & sensor fusion.
In JOYNEXT/Joyson, Dr. Wang is leading the R&D team of ADAS, acting as head of AD product line.
Hyunse Lee is the Vice President of Autocrypt Technologies. His role is to ensure that OEMs, tier suppliers, and mobility services providers understand the crucial need for secure mobility as we move into the future of connected and autonomous transportation. As former founder & CEO of Realhaptics, he has been involved in embedded systems engineering, developing and commercializing virtual reality haptics systems. After his early entrepreneurial endeavor, he began his career in cybersecurity at Penta Security Systems. After Autocrypt successfully spun off from Penta Security, Hyunse took on his current position at Autocrypt with his passion for secure mobility.
James Hodgson, Research Director at ABI Research, conducts research related to the field of autonomous driving and smart mobility, with a focus primarily on quantitative forecasting and analysis in the areas of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous driving, cooperative mobility and connected infotainment.
Jan Aelterman is assistant professor at Ghent University and imec. His research interest is in application-specific challenges for image processing. He has built a 10+ year academic record in different application fields like MRI, CT, microscopy, consumer video, automotive perception … As part of the Image Processing and Interpretation (IPI) research group led by Autosens 2019 speaker prof. Wilfried Philips, he is currently involved with automotive-specific perception research using sensor fusion, video quality improvement, exposure fusion, machine learning and HDR-based analytics. He is also a co-author of the 2022 Autosens Academy Module on sensor fusion.
Head of Consulting
Jann-Eve Stavesand heads dSPACE Consulting and supports customers worldwide on defining test strategies for complex E/E systems and on overcoming challenges in development of safety-critical systems.
He was involved in the development of ISO 26262:2018 with a focus on software and processes and is currently involved in the standardization of Safety Of The Intended Functionality (SOTIF). His special focus is on testing and quality assurance of automotive software and systems, including the approval and homologation of these complex functions.
Technical Product Manager
Javier Salado is Technical Product Manager at Anyverse. He has over 30 years of experience in software development and systems integration, highlighting his time at HP and more recently at Samsung Research where he applied his experience in deep learning-related projects. He is Anyverse’s product technical expert and point of contact for applications such as sensor simulation or deep learning training using advanced hyperspectral synthetic data.

My name is Jonas Edele, and I am proud to represent BMW since November 2021. My primary focus lies in managing the semiconductor portfolio for the in-vehicle-networking technologies CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet. By ensuring an active technical exchange between the entire IVN team and our partners, I play an important role in driving innovation.

Laurent Chanas Phd

Laurent Chanas Phd
Dr Laurent Chanas has been working in image quality assessment and improvement for more the 20 years. He is now head of the image quality assessment solution, named Analyzer, at DXOMARK IMAGE LABS. Previously Laurent worked at DXO Labs, developing image processing algorithms (several international patents) and managed the test and measurement laboratory. Laurent holds a master’s degree from “Ecole Nationale de l’Electronique et ses Applications” as well as a PhD thesis in Image Processing.
Product Marketing Manager
Ludovic Rota is the product marketing manager in the automotive sensing division at onsemi. In his current role, he defines the functional safety and cybersecurity requirements for future automotive image sensor products. Prior to his work in product marketing, he was a functional safety expert on the Global Functional Safety Team at onsemi. He holds certifications from OMNEX and TUV for both Functional Safety and Cybersecurity. Before joining onsemi, he worked as a functional safety assessor for power management products at NXP. With over 20 years of experience in the automotive semiconductor industry, Ludovic has held various technical leadership, project management, and assessor positions in Belgium, France, and the US.

Graduated in Physics at the Federico II of Naples in 2010 with a specialization on Solid-State Physics, Optics and Optoelectronic, Ghezzi made his start in the Automotive sector where to his previous optical skills, he added experience both in industrial processes and in the use of Silicon-based sensors in the Automotive/Industrial field. Thanks to his experience, Ghezzi in Hamamatsu follow for all Europe the product family of Si and InGaAS PD,APD,MPPC (SiPM)&SPAD, Linear&Area image sensor (CCD, CMOS, InGaAs) and MEMS.
Matt Daley is Operations Director at rFpro – the leading simulation environment for the development and testing of ADAS, autonomous vehicles, vehicle dynamics and human factor studies. His passion for his work encourages the team to push the boundaries of simulation, ensuring rFpro continually develops how the real world is modelled for its customers. Matt’s earlier career was spent within world championship-winning F1 teams, including Ferrari and McLaren, where he honed his skill for applying fundamental engineering principles to solving important technology challenges. As part of rFpro’s expert team, Matt has enabled companies to make use of simulation in a wide variety of applications, from OEM vehicle dynamics, Tier1 sensor and system developments, through to world leading motorsports championships.
Megan Lampinen is Editor-at-Large at Automotive World. She has more than 20 years of experience writing about future mobility and moderating panel discussions. From eVTOL and multi-modal ecosystems to robotaxis and the software-defined vehicle, Megan enjoys exploring the many technologies and trends that promise to shape the way people and goods are moved.

Michele joined S&P Global Mobility in 2022 as Principal Analyst, leading the research for Autonomy in Europe.
Michele specializes in the areas of automated driving. He works as analyst researching mobility and automotive technologies
with a focus on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), sensors and related industry trends. Complementary research
includes technical topics from standards to safety protocols, mandates and regulations, autonomous driving and new mobility
strategies, cost, pricing and consumer adoption.
Before joining S&P, Michele worked for +12 years in the ADAS design field for the industry.

System architect/Safety architect
With a strong background in system IC architecture and safety expertise, Minkyu is preparing for scalable and safety architecture for xDC, ADAS, and AD for upcoming trend centralized architectures in LG Electronics VS company. He has also collaborated with Mercedes-Benz to mass-produce ASIL complied LG Electronics’s multi-purpose front camera. As a functional safety expert, he is one of designated expert by TUV Rheinland Functional Safety Expert certification, the first of its kind in Asia-Pacific.
Technical Solution Architect
Nicolai joined the PAVE360 team at Siemens in 2023 from Volkswagen, where he worked on Compute Architectures and SoC designs for L4 robotaxis and VW group L2+/L3 programs. Prior, he worked at Dream Chip Technologies as an Automotive SoC architect and HW-SW-CoDesigner and camera-based rear mirror systems. During his research work at the Institute of Microelectronic Systems at the Leibniz University Hanover he participated in several automotive projects on AI accelerators and HW-SW-Codesign.
Norman Koren became interested in photography while growing up near the George Eastman House photographic museum in Rochester, NY. He received his BA in physics from Brown University (1965) and his Masters in physics from Wayne State University (1969). He worked in the computer storage industry simulating digital magnetic recording systems and channels for disk and tape drives from 1967-2001. He founded Imatest LLC in 2003 to develop software and test charts to measure the quality of digital imaging systems.
Olaf Thiele received in 2004 his PhD at the Georg-August-University Göttingen. Since 2005 he is product manager for automotive applications at LaVision GmbH in Göttingen, first for internal combustion optical analysis and since 2020 also for glass quality control.

Oliver has spent over 25 years in the Automotive and Telecoms industries where he gained experience in many roles such as system and network design, development and integration, IoT proof-of-concepts, new feature and product commercialization, business development, technical pre-sales activities, account management, team management, project and product management. Oliver joined Immervision as a Product Manager in the Automotive and Transportation space, where his extensive professional experience supports the growth of our Automotive product offering. Oliver holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and several certifications in scrum/agile, product management and team leadership.

Patrice is co-founder of Immervision where he leads the engineering team, contributes to IP growth and the adoption of Immervision’s technology by global corporations. He has overseen the integration of wide-angle imaging technology in numerous industry verticals. He is an IEEE Senior Member who has spoken at various conferences and co-authored multiple publications and patents and holds a master’s degree in image processing in computer graphics.

Pier Paolo Porta
Pier Paolo Porta is responsible for Ambarella’s Automotive European Business Unit as well as stereovision-related product marketing. In July 2005, he received the Dr. Ing. (Master) degree in Electronic Engineering from Università di Parma, Italy. In 2005 he also joined VisLab, the Artificial Vision research group at the Università di Parma, where he earned a PhD in Information Technology in 2010. In 2009, Porta was one of the founding associates of VisLab srl, and from 2010 he was part of the Board of Governors of the company until it was acquired by Ambarella in 2015. Porta’s background is in autonomous driving and ADAS, and he is focused on stereovision, sensor fusion, and traffic sign recognition.

As part of the Photonics, Sensing & Display division at Yole Développement (Yole), Pierrick Boulay works as Market and Technology Analyst in the fields of Solid State Lighting and Lighting Systems to carry out technical, economic and marketing analysis. Pierrick has authored several reports and custom analysis dedicated to topics such as general lighting, automotive lighting, LiDAR, IR LEDs, UV LEDs and VCSELs. Prior to Yole, Pierrick has worked in several companies where he developed his knowledge on general lighting and on automotive lighting. In the past, he has mostly worked in R&D department for LED lighting applications. Pierrick holds a master degree in Electronics.

Dr Valentina Donzella received her BSc (2003) and MSc (2005) in Electronics Engineering from University of Pisa and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa, Italy), and her PhD (2010) in Innovative Technologies for Information, Communication and Perception Engineering from Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. In 2009, she was a visiting graduate student at McMasterUniversity (Hamilton, ON, Canada) in the Engineering Physics department. She is currently Associated Professor, Head of the Sensors area in the Intelligent Vehicles group at WMG, University of Warwick, UK. She has been awarded a Royal Academy ofEngineering Industrial Fellowship on camera sensors and she is the lead of the workpackage on sensor modelling in the EU project ROADVIEW; Before joining WMG, she was a MITACS and SiEPIC postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada), in the Silicon Photonics group. She is first author, co-author, and last author of several journal papers on top tier optics and sensors journals. Her research interests are: LiDAR, Intelligent Vehicles, integrated optical sensors, noise factors, sensor fusion, and silicon photonics. Dr Donzella is Full College member of EPSRC and Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy.

Alex has over 20 years of experience with optical technologies. During his position as optical designer at Kostal (Tier 1) he was responsible for the optical quality of the camera ADAS, designing MTF test benches for all purposes. As a Professor for Physics at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf he is now looking at all the questions surrounding optical quality from a scientific point of view, and will share his enthusiasm for optics and cameras with you.
