Sophisticated active safety systems in autonomous vehicles, for example, require awareness of the vehicle interior. The driver’s body and head pose and the number of occupants are among the most useful information that is indispensable for active safety, HMI, and comfort systems. In this presentation, Melexis discuss the various system configurations and the advantages of time-of-flight technology. BMW, lead partner in an interior sensing proof-of-concept, will then describe a concrete in-vehicle demonstrator and relevant use cases.
