Manager of Safety and Cyber Security Risks
Sofie Weidenlöv is Manager of Safety and Cyber Security Risks at Volvo Penta and founder of the Functional Safety & Cyber Security Development Center, a cross-functional hub that enhances product development to meet Volvo Group’s goal of 100% safe products.
With over a decade of international experience in functional safety, hazard analysis, and vehicle automation, Sofie has worked across Asia and the Volvo Group. Her background in autonomous automotive and medical devices, combined with Volvo Penta’s diverse fields; maritime, mining, forestry, and agriculture, ultimately attracted her to the role.
With multiple degrees in Product Development, Automation & Mechatronics from Chalmers University of Technology, as well as Sports Management, this judo blackbelt combines a strong passion for research with a commitment to sharing knowledge. She has presented at prominent venues such as EXPO EU in Düsseldorf, the Systems & Software Safety Conference (SSSC), and VECS in Gothenburg. In February 2025, she delivered a keynote on the limitations of the V-model in Düsseldorf. Additionally, she has offered workshops at XPONENTIAL in San Diego, 2024 and Houston,2025 sharing cutting-edge insights on Unifying Risk Modeling: A Practical Path to Efficiency in Complex Systems Engineering.
