Alexis has experience in multiple disciplines in the emerging field of image processing, from academia to commercial R&D, with a proven history of working in the semiconductor industry. Currently he is Technical Director – Imaging at Arm, responsible for the image signal processor (ISP) architecture and the Imaging technology research team. Alexis joined Arm in May 2016 after spending the previous 6 years with Apical, where he was responsible for Image Quality and R&D of advanced image processing models, computational algorithms and tuning for end-to-end ISP performance. Prior to joining Apical he was a researcher at Loughborough University where he studied for his PhD in Vision and Imaging Systems, and holds a BSc and MSc in computer science.

Andreas is a Deep Learning researcher at Embedl. He received his PhD in Physics from Chalmers University of Technology in 2021, where he worked on quantum computing, and his M.Sc. in physics from the University of Gothenburg in 2015. With a keen interest in everything deep-learning related, Andreas specializes in optimizing deep learning models for embedded systems. He is especially interested in model compression techniques centered around network pruning, neural architecture search, and knowledge distillation, and how to tailor these techniques to industrial needs.

David received an R&D100 award for developing the first AI system fielded on military robots. The latest version is now the common AI brain used as a standard on many military vehicles. Dr. Maureen August is a Lab Group Manager for General Motors Research and Development. She graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as an Engineer Officer in the United States Army. She has deployed to Nicaragua for hurricane recovery and commanded a company in Iraq. After leaving the Army, Maureen worked as a Senior Systems Engineer developing the Joint Test and Evaluation Methodology for Joint Forces Command. Before moving to General Motors, Maureen served as the Director of Curriculum for the Army’s Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Program. In this capacity she was responsible for the education and training of Soldiers across the Army focused on performance, energy management, and resilience. Dr. August was also selected as the Program Manager for the Special Operations Cognitive Enhancement and Performance Program which adopts the principles of sports and performance psychology to provide mental skills training for Special Operations Forces. These skills focused on teaching human biorhythms, sleep science, energy management, attention control and memory improvement. This training was critical for elite Soldiers to remain adaptive and ready during high stress training and deployments. At General Motors, Maureen has worked in as a human factors expert in Safety, a capture manager for GM Defense, and now works with her team on biosensing, information display, and simulation. Maureen holds an MS in Engineering Management from Missouri S&T, an ME in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and completed her PhD in Systems and Engineering Management at Texas Tech University.

Ridha Ben-Mrad, P.Eng., FCSME, Director of the Mechatronics and Microsystems Group and a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, University of Toronto. He joined the University of Toronto in 1997, having previously held positions at the National Research Council of Canada in Vancouver, BC, and the Ford Research Laboratory in Dearborn, Michigan. R. Ben-Mrad received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1994. R. Ben-Mrad’s research interests are micro-actuators and sensors, MEMS, microfabrication, and development of smart materials based devices. He published more than 160 refereed publications and has more than 12 US, European, and Canadian patents. He received the Faculty Early Career Teaching Award in 2002 and the Connaught Innovation Award in 2013 and in 2014. R. Ben-Mrad chairs the IEEE IES Committee on MEMS and Nanotechnology (2015-2016), is Associate Editor of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Tech News (2013-current), and serves on the Steering Committee of the IEEE Journal on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (2010-current). Future Computing was sold to McGraw-Hill. He remained president of the company’s StoreBoard unit for several years following a private placement. StoreBoard tracked the sales of PC products and was later sold to Ziff-Davis. Previously, he was with Texas Instruments where he was a strategic and product planner for microprocessors, minicomputers and PCs. He has written columns and papers for technology publications and has made presentations, seminars and lectures in the USA, Asia and Europe. Egil has made over 750 papers, reports and conference presentations in the last 35 years. He received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University. In this role, Ms. White oversees all aspects of FHWA’s legislative, regulatory, and other programs to advise the federal-aid highway program and the secretary on matters relating to the 2,700-person agency and $59 billion Federal-aid highway program. Ms. White serves as part of the FHWA senior leadership team and manages 60 professionals in four offices across the country to advance the FHWA mission to deliver a world-class system that advances safe, efficient, equitable, and sustainable mobility voices for all while strengthening the Nation’s economy.
Before joining USDOT, she served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), a nonprofit founded by Congress to advance safety and mobility through transportation technology and innovation. As COO Kristin promoted policies to advance the strategic direction of future transportation policy, developing a cohesive national vision for digital infrastructure, connected technologies, and automation, and developed public-private partnerships to empower local communities, states, and regions to develop innovative transportation solutions. In this work, Kristin championed MobilityXX and the Gender Equity in Transportation (GET) Collaborative – nonprofits to advance gender equity in transportation.
Previously, Kristin was the founder and Executive Director of Minnesota’s Office of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV-X), one of the nation’s leading tech startups and idea incubators within government that researches and deploys transformational technology and policy. The CAV-X program’s innovations have garnered national attention, including winning the National Cronin Award, WTS Innovative Solutions Award, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce/AASHTO America’s Transportation Award.
