A former open-wheel racing driver, Alex Polonsky is a dynamic bilingual engineer who traded Silicon Valley for the heart of Detroit in pursuit of his passion for transportation and cutting-edge technology. Currently at the forefront of innovation as an electronics engineer with the Brose Group, Alex is not just shaping the future of mobility but also founded the Detroit Autonomous Vehicle Group (DAVG) in 2017.

Alexis has experience in multiple disciplines in the emerging field of image processing, from academia to commercial R&D, with a proven history of working in the semiconductor industry. Currently he is Technical Director – Imaging at Arm, responsible for the image signal processor (ISP) architecture and the Imaging technology research team. Alexis joined Arm in May 2016 after spending the previous 6 years with Apical, where he was responsible for Image Quality and R&D of advanced image processing models, computational algorithms and tuning for end-to-end ISP performance. Prior to joining Apical he was a researcher at Loughborough University where he studied for his PhD in Vision and Imaging Systems, and holds a BSc and MSc in computer science.

Andreas is a Deep Learning researcher at Embedl. He received his PhD in Physics from Chalmers University of Technology in 2021, where he worked on quantum computing, and his M.Sc. in physics from the University of Gothenburg in 2015. With a keen interest in everything deep-learning related, Andreas specializes in optimizing deep learning models for embedded systems. He is especially interested in model compression techniques centered around network pruning, neural architecture search, and knowledge distillation, and how to tailor these techniques to industrial needs.

Antonio has been working on automotive radar for 6 years at Zendar, where he is currently VP of Engineering. Prior to joining Zendar, he received his PhD in electrical engineering at the University of California Berkeley, where he worked on chip, system, and signal processing development for mm-wave communication links.

Bendix De Meulemeester, a graduate of Ghent University with a master’s in electronics and photonics, serves as the Director of Marketing & Business Development at Umicore Electro-Optic Materials. With over 20 years at Umicore and past experience in the United States, Bendix leverages his expertise to steer Umicore’s innovations in photonics and clean energy. Mr. Gershman has served as CEO/COO and a Board Director for three companies, he knows what it takes to lead a vision to reality – having led successful exits with acquisitions by Intel and PMC-Sierra. As President & CEO of Bay Microsystems (now Vcinity), Chuck guided the company through two high-tech recessions and from a pre-revenue start-up to a thriving profitable industry leader with over $100M in aggregate sales. In 2007 Bay was selected as a finalist as the Most Respected Private Semiconductor Company by the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), and in 2008 Bay was recognized by Deliotte for the Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 (#15) and US Fast 500 (#136) with nearly 1400% growth.

Colin Kwan, President and CEO of MEMS Drive Inc., founded the company in 2014 with a team of experts in MEMS design, wafer process and packaging. MEMS is the short form of Micro-ElectroMechanical System. MEMS Drive is the first semiconductor based 5-axis Optical Image Stablization (OIS) for smartphone.

As Director of Business Development and System Solutions at Valens Semiconductor, Daniel brings more than 30 years of engineering experience to this role, working with OEMs and Tier-1s worldwide to bring innovative next-gen E/E architectures and solutions to market. Prior to Valens, Daniel was Director of Marketing at TranSwitch, and has also held positions in project management and engineering at Mindspeed Technologies, Comverse Network Systems and Ford Motor Company. Daniel holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.

Darren is the head of automotive technology initiative at LITE-ON Technology Corporation, focusing on the research and development of automotive vision software for ADAS solutions. Darren is also leading the technical marketing team to develop the new business about the automotive sensors which LITEON design and manufacture for OEM & Tier1. Prior to joining LITEON, Darren was the special assistant to general manager of automotive BU at Philips LITEON Digital Solutions, and joint-developed the Head-Up Display, wireless charger, ultrasonic sensor, and then led radar & LiDAR pre-developing projects. Darren has a master’s degree in engineering science from the National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan.

Dave leads corporate development at Torc and is a deep tech executive with over 25 years of experience in the automotive, semiconductor, and electronic design automation industries. He most recently was VP of Marketing and Business Development at Algolux (acquired by Torc), for their leading AI-based robust perception technologies for automotive and autonomy. Prior to Algolux, he led Worldwide Strategic Partnerships and Alliances for Xilinx (acquired by AMD), driving solution and services partnerships. He’s held executive product and partnership positions at Cadence Design Systems, Verisity Design, and Synopsys. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University.

A senior executive and transformational leader with a broad range of experiences in both public and private sector industries such as transportation, smart innovation, technology, diversity, equity and inclusion, economic and real estate development, public policy strategy, and general operations. She pioneered and enhanced Systems and Safety Engineering methods to improve perception system development efficiency. She actively engages in discussions with industry-leading organizations like IEEE and SAE on standards topics related to software-defined and connected vehicles, AI/ML, and parallel autonomy systems. Divya is a Cisco certified network associate, and TUV SUD Functional Safety Engineer and SOTIF Certified.

Egil has over 40 years’ experience in the high-tech and automotive industries. He is currently a senior partner and principal analyst at VSI Labs. VSI is unique with its applied research and technical insights derived through its own test vehicles and provide perspectives, insights and analysis of ADAS/AD technologies via its portal service. Egil is also a contributor to EE Times and has written nearly 100 articles since June 2020. Egil’s recent research has been focused on autonomous driving technologies and use-cases, software-fined vehicle segments and BEVs. He has extensive experience in technology forecasting, market forecasting and competitive analysis. Egil was co-founder of Telematics Research Group, which was acquired by iSuppli in 2008. IHS acquired iSuppli in 2010. He worked for IHS Market until mid-2020 as research director of automotive technology. Egil was Chairman and co-founder of Future Computing, an information service company that was the leading market research and product testing company for the PC industry. Future Computing was sold to McGraw-Hill. He remained president of the company’s StoreBoard unit for several years following a private placement. StoreBoard tracked the sales of PC products and was later sold to Ziff-Davis. Previously, he was with Texas Instruments where he was a strategic and product planner for microprocessors, minicomputers and PCs. He has written columns and papers for technology publications and has made presentations, seminars and lectures in the USA, Asia and Europe. Egil has made over 750 papers, reports and conference presentations in the last 35 years. He received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University. Frank Schirrmeister is the Executive Director, System Solutions at Synopsys. Prior to this role, he was vice president of solutions and business development at Arteris IP, where he lead activities in the automotive, enterprise & computing, communications, consumer, and industry verticals and the technology horizontals artificial intelligence, machine learning, safety, and hardware/software. Before Arteris IP, Frank held various senior leadership positions at Cadence Design Systems, Synopsys, and Imperas, focusing on product marketing and management, solutions, strategic ecosystem partner initiatives, and customer engagement.

Ghazal Farhani is a Research Officer with a main focus on implementing new numerical methods, such as machine learning algorithms, to gain new insights from data. She works for the National Research Council Cananda with researchers from diverse backgrounds in engineering and sciences.

Doctor Håkan Sivencrona has worked with safety related automotive applications for over 25 years for various suppliers and roles, including safety manager. He has also been involved in many research projects within AD/ADAS. Dr Sivencrona is one of the originators of the ISO 26262 SEooC concept as well as the SOTIF standard, ISO 21448.
After working at Volvo cars daughter company Zenseact for a few years, Hakan was offered to transfer to Volvo cars where he will continue to work on the mission to make every mile safer.

Jim Misener is the Global V2X Ecosystem Lead for Qualcomm where he develops and executes the company’s V2X deployment strategy across all global regions. Jim was a pioneer in vehicle-highway automation and vehicle safety communication at the California Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH) at UC Berkeley. He has served as the PATH Executive Director, Executive Advisor to Booz Allen Hamilton, and as an independent consultant. In these roles, Jim has garnered the experience and reputation of delivering dozens of technology projects with large scale safety impact.

Jonathan Phillips is VP of Imaging Science at Imatest, a leading company in image quality testing based in Boulder, Colorado that supports camera development for many of the world’s top companies across many industries, including automotive, mobile electronics, security, aerospace, and medical imaging. He is the co-author of Camera Image Quality Benchmarking, a reference book that details objective and subjective metrics fundamental to benchmarking still and video imaging devices. Prior to joining Imatest, Jonathan was the leader of image quality in Google’s Android organization, manager of the camera image quality lab at NVIDIA, and principal scientist at Kodak. Kodak sponsored his Master’s and PhD work in color science at RIT.

Dr. Leaf Jiang is an engineering industry executive and leading authority on 3D vision systems. Leaf received his B.S., M.Eng, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at MIT, with a focus on optoelectronics, and then went on to MIT Lincoln Laboratories for 12 years where he headed LiDAR R&D for the President’s Office and built coherent and direct detection LiDARs for the military. In 2017, as the autonomous vehicle industry gained momentum, Leaf realized that there was a substantial opportunity to service the gap between what LiDAR could deliver and the needs of the market. Leaf started NODAR to address that gap.

Lionel Bennes, PhD, serves as Senior Product Manager for AVxcelerate products at Ansys. Lionel has more than 10 years of experience in Optical and Real Time simulation, mainly in the Automotive and A&D fields. He has overseen the design and development of Headlamp and Sensors products, leveraging a unique combination of real time rendering techniques combined with physics based optical simulations.

Margaret started her career on the Mars Global Surveyor and Hubble Space Telescope camera teams. She later joined start-up Foveon, working on early digital SLR cameras. In 2006 her career shifted to mobile imaging at companies such as Danger, Microsoft, and NVIDIA. She managed the Customer Camera team at NVIDIA for 7 years, working on imaging products for mobile, automotive, surveillance, and robotics. Margaret was Chair of the IEEE P1858 Camera Phone Image Quality (CPIQ) Workgroup and is now Chair of the IEEE P2020 Automotive Image Quality Workgroup. In her spare time, Margaret is an avid world traveler and photographer.

Maria Town is the President and CEO of the American Association of People with Disabilities. In this role, she works to increase the political and economic power of people with disabilities.

Previously she served as the Director of the City of Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities where she advocated for the rights and needs of citizens with disabilities.

Town is the former senior associate director in the Obama White House Office of Public Engagement managing White House engagement with people with disabilities. She also worked as policy advisor at the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy to improve employment outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities.

Mark Fitzgerald supports strategic analysis, research and forecasting for clients in ADAS and AD. Mark’s 20+ years of automotive experience includes competitive market analysis, forecasting, and consulting in the areas of automotive electronics and sensor applications in ADAS and automated driving, powertrain control, passenger safety, and vehicle information systems. Norman Koren became interested in photography while growing up near the George Eastman House photographic museum in Rochester, NY. He received his BA in physics from Brown University (1965) and his Masters in physics from Wayne State University (1969). He worked in the computer storage industry simulating digital magnetic recording systems and channels for disk and tape drives from 1967-2001. He founded Imatest LLC in 2003 to develop software and test charts to measure the quality of digital imaging systems.

Patrice is co-founder of Immervision where he leads the engineering team, contributes to IP growth and the adoption of Immervision’s technology by global corporations. He has overseen the integration of wide-angle imaging technology in numerous industry verticals. He is an IEEE Senior Member who has spoken at various conferences and co-authored multiple publications and patents and holds a master’s degree in image processing in computer graphics.

Paul is an accomplished product leader with over 14 years of experience in automotive technologies. He is adept at leading product management, go-to market, pre-sales, systems engineering and strategic partnership teams. He has incubated and launched several new sensing and perception products globally. He is currently a Sr. Specialist for Autonomous Vehicles at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Prior to AWS, Paul held various roles ranging from co-founder and managing director of a successful start-up to managing and leading new product development teams at Aptiv PLC and Xperi Corp. in Automated Driving and Cockpit Technology domains. Dr. Srinivas Peeta became the Frederick R. Dickerson Chair in Transportation Systems in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech in August 2018 after 24 years at Purdue University. Peeta has been the Director of the NEXTRANS Center, which served as the USDOT’s Region 5 Regional University Transportation Center (UTC) from 2007 to 2018. He is also the Associate Director of the USDOT Center for Connected and Automated Transportation, the USDOT Region 5 UTC (2016-2022) led by the University of Michigan. He received his B. Tech., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras), California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and The University of Texas at Austin, respectively. During 2007-2013, Dr. Peeta served as Chair of the Transportation Network Modeling Committee (ADB30) of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies, and as a member of the Travel Analysis Methods Section. He is a board member of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) Technical Committee on Transportation Systems.

A few years after obtaining his engineering degree and starting his career, Quentin Noir wrote a professional thesis on “Value creation through ecosystems”, through which he specialized in innovation marketing. He started to work as an engineer, then as a product project manager for several French industrial players, and after several years of experience in platform development and innovation technologies, he is now a Product Manager at LYNRED. His responsibilities include the identification of markets’ innovation needs, including the automotive market’s, and finding ways to deliver and increase the value proposition of thermal imaging products.

He also holds a M.Res Computer Vision and Image Processing from University College London (1996). Robin is a Fellow of The Royal Photographic Society, UK, and a Senior Member SPIE. He is a Visiting Professor at University of Westminster within the Computer Vision and Imaging Technology Research Group.

Sergey Velichko has been responsible for technology and product development for the Automotive Sensing Division at onsemi since 2007. He is a Senior IEEE Member. Previously, he has worked in various teaching and R&D positions at KPI, Micron Technology, and HP. He authored and co-authored more than 50 publications and over 70 issued and pending patents. His interests include intelligent sensor technology and strategic product development, novel imaging architectures, and innovations in imaging sensor designs.

Dr. Bao is a human factors researcher who has led and conducted multiple, large, simulator and naturalistic-driving studies for industry and government sponsors. Her areas of expertise include the statistical analysis of crash datasets and naturalistic data, vulnerable road user safety, experimental design, algorithm development to identify driver states and movement, evaluation of driving-safety technologies, measurement of driver performance, driver decision making, and statistical and stochastic modeling techniques. She has been invited to give multiple keynote speeches and served on expert panels at different conferences or meetings. She has also made technical presentations on scientific project results at many international conferences with a wide range of audiences. Dr. Bao is the author of the recent IEEE e-learning course of ‘Human Factors in Automated Vehicles”.

Shashank is a seasoned industry leader with 21+ years of experience in the Semiconductor and Automotive industry.  His career spans a broad range of topics including all aspects of product design from automotive OEM platform architecture to algorithm development, silicon IP architecture (targeting Image processing, computer vision and AI applications), as well as software development and applications. He has over 35 patents and has published multiple papers in international conferences and is on the advisory board of the Auto-Sens conference. In his current role, Shashank is the director of product management for Qualcomm’s ADAS SoCs and is responsible for the roadmap and execution of these devices. Prior to joining Qualcomm he was working as ADAS Platform Architect with Rivian Inc. where he was responsible for leading the architecture and sensor suite definition for multiple generation of Rivian ECU(s). Srinivasa S Guntur is Currently working for Rivian Automotive as a Sr Staff Functional Safety engineer. He has been part of Electrical Architecture group at Rivian. His professional interests are into electrification & smart sensor technologies especially in the field of safety of electrical design for Autonomous vehicle & sensor technologies.

Taufiq Rahman leads the Connected & Automated Vehicles (CAV) Team at the National Research Council Canada (NRC). Yonatan Dishon is a machine perception expert from Israel. Director of AI in Adasky Ltd, Yokneam, Israel. Determined to supply thermal based ADAS & AV features to improve safety and convenience of modern vehicles. Holds a M.Sc from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology

Dr. Yunteng Huang is the CEO of Aeonsemi Inc., a high-speed Ethernet PHY innovator based in Santa Clara, California. Prior to co-founding Aeonsemi in 2018, Yunteng was VP and General Manager at Silicon Labs responsible for Timing and High-Speed interface products. During his tenure at Silicon Labs, Yunteng also served in various other capacities in engineering and marketing for wireless IoT, automotive and consumer products.
