John Franks

John Franks is responsible for Design, Prototyping and Industrialization of optical assemblies with Umicore. He studied optics at Imperial College, London and has worked in the optics industry for more than 35 years. He is an experienced Lens Designer and has designed lenses for applications including military, industrial, commercial, consumer and automotive. He was hired by Umicore when the company decided to start manufacturing lenses and lens assemblies and has helped Umicore grow to be a world leader in the supply of Thermal Imaging optics.
