Speaking about the partnership, Robert Stead, Managing Director of Sense Media and founder of the events, said, “We are very excited to be moving our event to Spain, it will take place in Catalunya, the leading region for the automotive industry in Spain after 8 years in Brussels. Not least, since I moved to Spain 3 years ago, and have developed a deep appreciation of the history, culture and people here, as well as the engineering, science and technology sectors experiencing strong growth.”.
To be hosted at the iconic Palau de Congressos, taking over the whole building for 3 days of technical presentations, discussions with experts, extensive networking, and a large exhibition with close to 100 companies showcasing the latest innovations in ADAS, autonomous vehicles, and in-cabin technologies, the co-located AutoSens and InCabin events will bring over €2.4m of investment to the region. “We plan to be in Barcelona, a globally famous and historic city, for many years to come, so it’s great that in this first year we have been able to establish such a strong relationship with a key organisation such as STA.”.
The conference agenda will feature presentations from OEMs including Volkswagen, with Torsten Wendler, Head of Driving and ADAS / AD providing the opening Keynote, and world-renowned expert in image sensors, Prof Albert Theuwissen, of Harvest Imaging and formerly TU Delft and Philips providing another Keynote. Further speakers will be announced over the coming months.
“We are truly honoured that Sense Media chose to bring their event to Barcelona after a long bidding process to select the right location. Catalunya is proud of the region’s automotive engineering heritage, with major players such as Seat, VW, Ficosa, Panasonic, Marelli, Lear, Magna, Applus, Idneo, Motherson and many more established here for many years, employing a significant workforce and driving revenue and investment for the region.”, said Jose Manuel Barrios, President of the STA association. “Supporting AutoSens and InCabin in 2024 and beyond will help augment connections for the region’s businesses to the global supply chain.”.
Members of STA throughout the whole of Spain are offered an exclusive discount on attendance fees for the conference, STA will be a sponsor at the event, and members are encouraged to make the most of special rates if they also get involved as sponsor or exhibiting companies.
Between the co-located events, an expected 1000 attendees will travel from across Europe, plus further afield including USA, Korea, Japan, China, Israel, India and other locations as the events bring together the full supply chain to benefit from face-to-face interactions and collaborative discussions to help solve shared problems, and work towards safer cars and roads.
