Launching AutoSensONLINE, a new event delivering best-in-class content to the autonomous vehicle community – online and totally free

AutoSensONLINE is a new event powered by AutoSens and promising high-quality technical content from leading experts in the field of vehicle perception – all delivered online. While the world battles with the challenges of COVID-19, the AutoSens team have been busy forming plans to support their engineering community through these times of travel restrictions and social distancing. This new digital portal offers technical presentations, market analysis and, most importantly, community interaction. It’s a fresh new virtual event-space offering the opportunity to learn and network from the safety and comfort of a home or office.

The first AutoSensONLINE is running 12-14 May with subsequent editions in June and July 2020. Themes for each series include:

  • 12-14 May – The Changing Dynamics of ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle Development
  • 11-12 June – Advances in Sensors for ADAS and Autonomous Vehicles
  • 14-15 July – Managing Data in ADAS and Autonomous Vehicles

Attendees can register just once to receive free access for all seven days of AutoSensONLINE, and all content will be available online for participants to watch after each event.

Join the online AutoSens community this May

Taking place on the original dates for the Detroit edition of AutoSens (12-14 May), the first AutoSensONLINE event will focus on The Changing Dynamics of ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle Development. The agenda will feature top experts in the field, alongside brand-new speakers providing plenary-level insight into the autonomous vehicle space with Q&A’s built into all sessions.

All aspects of vehicle perception will be addressed, from a deep dive into the latest research on how consumers are interacting with ADAS features from SBD Automotive, to a much anticipated session on deep learning’s role in the journey towards autonomous driving, led by leading academic Dr Ray Ptucha from the Rochester Institute of Technology. On being part of AutoSensONLINE, Dr Ray says: “We are entering a new era of digital learning, digital networking, and digital presence. Despite the horrific virus, we need to push on. New technology and new players will emerge. The evolution of science and innovation only accelerates over time, and we are anxious to embrace the future.”

At the heart of the industry

AutoSensONLINE sits at the cutting edge of the autonomous vehicle industry, currently managing the unfolding impact of COVID-19 on the automotive sector and looking to a future following it. This will be explored during an expert panel discussion of how automotive companies are dealing with the crisis, and what the long-term effects for ADAS and autonomous vehicle development might be, chaired by Bill Russo of Automobility. Attendees will also get an update on M&A and venture investing in ADAS and autonomous vehicles – including the latest data from Rudy Burger of Woodside Capital Partners.

Investing in the future of the community

The ONLINE sessions promise to deliver the high-quality content familiar to the AutoSens community, at a time when learning, and research and development are in the driving seat. That’s why it’s completely free to participate in AutoSensONLINE for the next three months. AutoSens is committed to continuing to support learning, business development and engagement within the industry, and is achieving this with maximum participation through a free event series, supported by top experts and companies.

Industry powerhouse Siemens will be providing fresh insight into the biggest challenges the AV supply chain is facing in achieving the desired safe autonomous driving level, and how a virtual V&V framework can alleviate many of these challenges. Safety in testing and development of autonomous products remains a critical topic, which will be addressed by renowned commentator Dr Phil Koopman, while testing strategies and advancing autonomous driving will be discussed by Alexander Schaab, Vice President Autonomous Driving, Mercedes-Benz R&D North America.

AutoSens Founder Robert Stead says: “’We’re all in it together’ is a popular mantra at the moment, but one that we fully buy into. That’s why we have developed this online event series, to support continued learning, networking and business development while the world is on lockdown. We’re confident that our community will find great value in participating in AutoSensONLINE, and we’re excited that being online will open up AutoSens to a whole new international audience, growing the community exponentially!”
